My 13 year old Rebecca has a Blog and Website at http://blog.beccacooks.com and http://beccacooks.com and she is in need of a new apron. Now a month ago for Christmas I was looking for one that would fit her and never found one. Back then I did not have a sewing machine and I did not believe I could sew. Now a month later, I have proven to myself, my wife and even BeccaCooks that I can make any thing I put my mind too. In all my blog reading about quilting I have seen a few posts here or their about making aprons. What I am looking for today is help from all the readers out there. I need a good walk through from some one (on their blog) with a pattern and or Ideas for design of a new Apron for the cook. I am going to have a linking list for this. For all those that have no walk through on sewing up a Apron, and since BeccaCooks needs more recipes you can link up any recipes (off your blogs) As a added reward any one that links their recipes I will add those recipes to http://beccacooks.com giving full credit to you and make sure a link to your blog post shows up on her blog and recipe site linking back to you. For all those that have no aprons, and no recipes, whats a cook with out a hat! We could use a tutorial for that too.
I will have BeccaCooks judge all of the recipes, and aprons and post the one she likes best on my blog and on her blog. Thanks in advance for helping a dad out.

Also not originally mine, (so not in the linky) but one I like:
ReplyDeleteBread Pudding
*Ingredients:*
2 cups whole milk (or 2 cups half & half)
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark, depending on taste preference)
3 eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups bread, torn into small pieces (french bread works best)
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
*Directions:*
1. In medium saucepan, over medium heat, heat milk (or half & half) just until film forms over top. Combine butter and milk, stirring until butter is melted. Cool to lukewarm.
2. Combine sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Beat with an
electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute. Slowly add milk mixture.
3. Place bread in a lightly greased 1 1/2 quart casserole.
4. Sprinkle with raisins if desired. Pour batter on top of bread.
5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 50 minutes or until set. Serve warm.
*If you make the sauce to put on top of your bread pudding, adjust the brown sugar in the bread pudding recipe. Reduce the amount in the recipe to 1/3 cups dark or light brown sugar (the sauce has the other 1/3 cup in it, in the form of white or light brown sugar).*
Bread Pudding Sauce
*Ingredients:*
1 cup whole milk
2 Tablespoons butter
1/3 cup granulated white sugar (light brown sugar can be substituted)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon flour
dash of salt
*Directions:*
Mix everything together and bring to a boil for 3 - 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Set aside for 5 minutes, then pour on warm bread pudding.
What a sweet idea. I don't have any apron instructions since the only one I've made was a kit from JoAnns that was a panel with pieces to cut out and sew together.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'll post a recipe. Also, Becca is welcome to pop over to my blog and look under the "food" label. I invite her to look at the recipes and tweak them to her tastes. I'll bet she would do something really cool with the stuffed burgers.
BTW, in the salmon recipe I posted, she can substitute sparkling white grape juice for the champagne. We call it "kid wine" in my house.

ReplyDeleteI've made 109 aprons in the last three-ish years, all using the same pattern. I used a pattern book called "Retro Aprons" for the adult size (option A, sizes S-XXL) and the matching apron (option B) in "Little Retro Aprons" (kids sizes 4 through 12). The patterns are by Cindy Taylor Oates. I linked to all of my posts with the tag "apron" so you can see the variety that comes from one pattern. The newest posts, which will be on the top, are kind of sparse with photos, but when you get to the older posts there are lots of pictures.
