Graduation Day or Crossroads

This post made by Tanya.  I am feeling a bit emotional the last couple of weeks.  I don't know what is harder, turning 40 or having a kid graduate high school all in the space of 1 1/2 weeks.  I found  a pattern, out of the Sweet Celebrations book I won recently, for a pillow  that was for a graduate.  I made a similar pillow for James. I chose to use my machine to embroiderer a year, instead of applique. I probably should have done it lower on fabric, but live and learn. I didn't do the pocket in pillow, he wouldn't use it. A finish that isn't a quilt.  Anyway it will match his lap quilt out of the same fabric.  Here are few rushed pictures we took of him in casual and cap and gown over weekend before he had to go to work.

  2. Hard to turn 40 when your child graduates from high school at the same time.. 45 and 50 are quieter changes so life marches forward... hope he loves the pillow! I sure do! Kathi

  4. Turning 40 was tough for me. Now that I just turned 50, I'll let you know that it gets easier.

  5. A great accomplishment for James and for you and Richard. Love the pillow idea, and the numbers are placed just right, I think.
