Boxed In 9 Patch

This is a quilt made by Richard using a pattern that Tanya created which she calls Boxed In.

This is of course a simple 9 patch block just surrounded by white with white in the center.  This is meant to be a really simple pattern for a beginner quilter.

I love the colors Tanya picked they are really bright and pretty.

The back of the quilt is a star minky.  Tanya knows how much I hate to quilt minky and I think that inspires her to keep buying more and more minkey to make my quilting more dificult.  Good thing it looks and feels so nice on them.

Lots and Lots of Christmas Stockings

Last year after Christmas and the previous year we bought a bunch of fabrics to make Christmas Stockings for family and also to sell.  We thought it would be great to have some table runners, stockings and pot holders for craft fairs.  We have finally have started to get some smaller stuff up on Etsy, with plans to be able to do a craft fair next year. We also are making stockings for family.

As you can see this one belongs to Julia.
When  you don't have a mantle because you don't have a fireplace you  make other stuff work.

This is the back she wanted, pink cat fabric.

The one is for Tanya (most likely).
That is unless I change my mind and like one of the others better.  I really like the silver and white pictured below as well.

I have started the ones for the other kids. Jared wanted green, Rebecca turquoise and James purple.  Richard wants a completely different one.  Any guesses?  He wants orange and gray 2 1/2 inch squares. Does this surprise anyone who has followed us for any length of time?

Purple Quilt

This purple quilt is a vanishing 9 patch.

Purple is a color that tends to sell well on our etsy store, but it is hard finding purple fabric in quilt stores.

I wanted a purple stripe for binding, but ended up with a purple gingham.

Christmas Time Sewing

We decided to make some Christmas Stockings.  Here are some of the fronts.  Some will be for family and some will be added to our etsy store.

Here are two table runners that we have finished and added to our store or if they don't sell this year, will be stockpiled for a show for next year.  If you would like to buy or like one of these table runners please vist our etsy store.  Here is a link to the 2nd one.

I have been selling patterns on Craftsy for a couple years now and recently Craftsy has changed and I am not sure if its for the better.  One big change that I think is for the better is that you can now rate craftsy patterns easier.  These two table runners are created using a pattern that I sell on Craftsy.  I use to be able to add projects and link them to this pattern, but because of the changes I no longer can link new projects up.  Sadly that means I can not link up these two finishes.   I would like to try and get better ratings on Craftsy and as such I am looking for people that can add a review to my Diagonal Table Runner.  I will give anyone a copy of my pattern just for commenting here on this post or on my facebook page (make sure I have a email to send the digital pattern too).  If you like it please give a me a good review on Craftsy.

Elephant and Chevron Rag Quilt

Here is a rag quilt that is elephants and chevrons and blue.

I know you are thinking, another rag quilt, aren't you tired of those yet.

They tend to be popular on our etsy site.

Modern Lap Quilt

This was supposed to be a baby quilt when it started. When I designed this out in EQ7, Tanya told me it was a bit small, so I made it bigger.  Well it went from baby size to a decent size lap quilt.

It actually measures 58 by 59 inches.  I was going for a modern squares look and feel, which I think turned out well. The plan was to do a pattern for this quilt which I would like to still do.  I wanted it to be a baby size quilt, so I will have to rescale my quilt a little to be the size I want it to be.  It was supposed to be around 40 by 40 inches.

We didn't have a wide back and had already purchased the floral fabric for the baby sized version.  We sewed some off white to both sides and made our back work for us.

The blank space on the background was quilted in wonky boxes.  The machine I used doesn't have a guide, but is much faster.   The other machine finally got repaired. The third repair shop did the trick, but Tanya and I basically switched machines. I use the Janome 1600P-QC (straight line only machine) and she is using the Janome 6300 Memory Craft.  It is nice to not have to share a machine again.  This allows us both to work on different quilting project with out having to re-thread the machine all of the time or move each others projects.

Helix Pattern only larger

This quilt was started a while back.  It is the  helix pattern I did here.

The blocks are done with 3 1/2 inch instead of 2 1/2 inch.

Strips of offwhite where done instead of blocks.

The back has minky on it.  It was a pain to quilt because it was so heavy. It just has lines quilted across it.

This was supposed to go on Etsy, but Tanya liked it so much she claimed it. According to her it makes a perfect lap quilt.

Light or Dark

This post is by Tanya, so you don't thing I am crazy and talking in 3rd person. Richard mentioned that he wanted to do some 2.5 inch blocks.  I told him yellow and gray would be a great colors. They sell well on Etsy and are great gender neutral colors.  He suggested orange and green.  He gave in and did the colors I wanted.

He already had several gray blocks so he made a bunch of yellow.

In typical Richard fashion, he made two quilt tops.  The best part of this is that we already had all the fabric in our stash.

One dark charcoal gray.

One light gray.

Which one do you like best?  I like the darker one.
