Modern Table Runner

This past Christmas, we created a more "Modern" Quilt for my son James.  In the process of making the blocks Tanya got inspired and created the top of this Table Runner.  The blocks themselves was taken from a modern crazy - piecing technique in a book called Modern Quilting by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen

Tanya pieced the top, but I could not talk her into quilting.  I toyed with how to quilt this as I had at that time not started on my sons quilt.  Eventually I ended up echo quilting inside and out of the crazy blocks.  Finding that not enough I echo quilted around each finished block and then the out side of table runner.

I really loved this table runner and it was fun to give it away as part of our family's Secret Santa that we do each year for families in our neighborhood.

Great book with lots of good ideas. Jacquie spoke at our modern quilt guild last fall--energetic speaker.

The table runner made good use of improv piecing.
