Last night, Tanya and I delivered a baby gift to the Wheatley's they are neighbors of ours. This quilt is made from some Dresden Petals given to us from another neighbor. They are serious vintage goods.
The Wheatley's, are a artistic family (the husband is a local artist and High School art teacher) and so I went above and beyond on my attempts to be artistic.
I have not done a ton of free motion quilting, but this quilt I did a lot on. I am always afraid to start a FMQ project for fear that I wont finish it, but this one was so much fun that I could not stop until it was finished. After a dozen bobbin fulls of thread I was finally done.
This quilt has five Dresden wheels spread across it and the edge of the wheels were not quilted down. This is so that when washed they will rag out and become frilly. When we dropped it off they seamed to like it so I guess all that hard work paid off.

A work of art indeed! Love the idea of letting the edges fray.
Okay, that explains it. I didn't think Dresden Plates were really Richard's OR Tanya's thing, but they definitely look lovely in this quilt. I'm sure the family was very thrilled to have it. I'm glad the ink came out.
