Baby Shower Gift

This is a quilt made for a baby shower gift for church.  The front is made of charms in lavender and black prints.  I used leftover prints from the custom charm square quilt last month. The back is lavender minky.

It is the gift from the church.  It the first one I have made, the other new moms have wanted freezer meals.  I am really hoping she likes it.  She is not real traditional.

I made the top and Richard was nice enough to quilt it for me.  They wanted to have the top so that we could tie it, but I am not really into tying quilts so much anymore especially with a pieced top.. I like the machine quilted look.  Am I the only one that has ever not wanted a quilt tied after piecing the top?

Nope. I don't really want to tie quilts. I like the looks of piecing and fabric so much I don't really want to cover it up. Although I think it can add a fun texture. I think they like doing that at things like church get togethers so that everyone can be involved. I believe it came about as less and less people knew how to hand quilt.

I'm not sure about tying vs machine quilting--I'm only familiar with machine quilting! But, I like how it turned out, and I have a question (If I'm not being too forward!) What type of Church do you attend? We're 'Reformed' Baptist, and I love hearing where others stand!

Beautiful Tanya! I've never tied a quilt but I own several that were machine pieced and tied... They are beautiful ever way...

Lovely quilt. The new moms at your church are very lucky. Did I hear something about not tying baby quilts as they could pull out the ties and eat them?
