Julia Quilts, Well makes a hotpad and has a B-Day!

Julia has been pestering me to let her make some hot pads for her friends mom.  I finally relented this last week and let her do it.
Julia is growing up.  Its funny to think 8 years ago she is what caused me to start quilting.  I know in the last 4 years I have almost vanished but my little princess is making me make a return.
Julia did not do this all alone.  I cut out the squares for her and sewed a few of them together and helped thread the machine.  But most of the actually sewing she did.
I even let her Iron.  I almost got away with it (Tanya did not know that I let her play with the hot iron) but well the burn on her had gave us away so I got caught.
All in all she did a pretty good job and did not burn the house down and only burnt a small mark into her wrist.  It will heal but the memories of her doing this on her own will last forever.
Julia picked all the materials out for these.  We are making another few quilts and these were left over squares that she stole for this project.
She even basted the hot pad on her own and pinned it.
She also quilted the hot pad.  Don't look too close at the lines as they are not all that strait but all in all it looks good.
I am proud of her she did a fantastic job.
Here is the hot pads after I did the binding on them.  She tried to do it but was not having great luck so I finished that part for her.

Today is Julia's B-Day she turned 8.  She was really sad that she was not able to have her friends over for a party or go out to dinner like we normally do for Birthdays.  We did get her some lunch that we picked up from Cafe Rio that was really good.

She got a pair of skates and lots of other presents but still was some what bummed out as the world tried to cancel her B-day.  But lucky for her we did it any way.
I have a 8 month old little grand daughter that we get to baby sit.  And while we were at the store a month ago I had to buy her this cute pink little chair.  She is finally to the point she can sit up in it.
This is my baby, Baby sitting her niece.  They make a good team when we can get them both down for a nap at the same time. With school out because of the virus, she has lots of time to spoil her.
Our little grand baby wants to grow up.  Here she is trying to get into a box she stood up all on her own.  She is just so cute.

Oh no, up she goes!

Yes, can you believe this kid can climb a ladder all by her self.  The second I saw here do this (OK after I took pictures) I took the ladder down and let Jared know he will have to climb up the side, the ladder is gone until his little sister is a little older.

When not climbing, she likes to hang out, on the shelve under "mom's sewing desk" playing with scraps.

Strips of minky make great scarves. She is now officially 18 months old

Looking Guilty

This post by Tanya.  Julia likes go climb up a chair and likes to play with Daddy's toys.  Admiring a quilt, then checking out his extension table.

She was putting empty spools of thread on top of machine.  I turned around to finish my project.

Adjusting his tension knob, Rebecca took that picture. I never noticed that.

The back of quilt after said adjustment, by little helper.  At least it was easy to remove. Julia is such a little busy body, into and on top of everything.  Yes, I did remove it for him.

And the fun begins

Today's post by Richard.

To the victor goes the spoils or so Julia is telling us.  For those that have followed my blog for long you know that I started quilting because of Julia.  She is such an amazing little girl.  When she was born her little arm (right arm was hurt). We did not really talk about it because it worried us a lot and of course its a private matter.  She has a early intervention therapist that has been coming over to our house to help us learn what we could do to help her.  While yesterday they told us that they are going to do an evaluation and possibly kick her out of the program.

What? They don't want to help her any more? In the last week or so Julia has decided she can reach and grab any thing that is near.  As any good parent we try to keep things out of reach and we let her down on the ground as much as possible.  While sadly we now have a problem.

(if you are reading this in reader there is a video that you will want to watch)

Yes, Julia Dawn Healey is mobile.  Nothing is going to stand in the way of her getting to and eating all the paper in the house.  One thing I would like to point out is Julia turned 5 months old yesterday.  When I brought her home from the hospital the manual said

"Most babies learn to crawl between the ages of 7and 10 months"

Some one needs to let her know that she is breaking all the rules, now who has the manual for the advance speed kids? Needless to say I think her right arm is doing fine and ya its ok that she is getting booted from the program.

Train Wrek my quilt that started all of my wild quilting I had to take a picture with Julia and the quilt before she even got a bath.
As you can see she is not bald.  We can almost braid that hair on her head.  Look forward to seeing how cute she looks after all the crinkled I am squished look goes away. (not that she is not beautiful now)
Last but not least having this addiction to quilting means a day can not go by with out something.  Many weeks back I won some hexi plastic thing's (not even sure what they are called) and I managed to make one flower and about 4-5 extra petals.  Wow that hand sewing stuff takes a long time, not sure If I could make many of these, but was neat to try something new.  Any way off work for the next 4 days and will I am sure make something else Quilt y to show off tell then your stuck looking at my Beautiful addition to our family Julia Dawn Healey.
