Pillows

Today we would like to show off a couple of  the pillows Tanya has made.  The center of each pillow has a embroidery.  The rest of the materials are left overs from other quilt materials.

We seem to have a animal kick going but that is mostly because they tend to be more popular then those that have had other things on it.  Both of these pillows are extremely cute.

Minion Pillow in Yellow and Blue

Tanya has made another of her wonderful pillows for today's post.  This is one of my favorite so far.  I am a fan of the minions and this is her 3rd.

These pillows she has created with a mixture of cotton and minkey with the Minion put on using embroidery by Tanya.  They are such cute and fun.  These pillows are all done with a rag quilt style.

We have never done a zipper so these pillows were made with a pillow that can be washed.  It is so fun to see the smiles these pillows cause on the little kids faces.

Skulls and Hearts

This is the last of the 7 pillows that Tanya made the kids (Our kids, nieces, nephews) for Christmas Last year.  Each and every pillow turned out so amazing.  Tanya a year ago got a embroidery machine and we have done one or 2 little projects.  Well she got this idea for rag quilt pillows and wanted to spruce them up some and so she went hunting for embroidery designs that the kids might love.

This pillow I think was one of the more fantastic ones, as it is so not Tanya.  She is not into skeletons at all but the niece that this went too so is into it.

I had forgot to get a full picture of all 7 together before we gave them away so above is 6 of them and below the 7th.  My favorite one of them all is the yellow and blue minion on on bottom left above.  I think Tanya should make many more.  My second  favorite I still get to enjoy its the owl that went to our little Julia.

Star Pillow

This is a pillow that we made for our daughter Rebecca for Christmas last year.  For the front it used a block that I had from a block of the month I had last year from Fat Quarter Shop.  It turned out really cute.  We did not know how to do a zipper, so we did a envelope (overlap).

Muscle Car Pillow

Another Cute Pillow made for Last Christmas gifts to the nieces and nephews.  This is a fun Muscle Car Tanya found a embroidery pattern for.  It was original designed for red but it turned out fantastic in blue.  One cute thing that I realized as I was typing this up is the blue on the corners was a fabric Jared (our son) picked out for mom for Christmas.  He gave her 15 or so fat quarters for Christmas that I let him pick out.  It was so funny how much they clashed with each other from those wild prints to poka dots.

One last though Link A Finish Friday #100 was last Friday and it is still open for link up's I think it would be cool if we could get 100 linked up quilts.  Keep in mind there is a Jelly Roll for the winner so linking up is worth it.  Up to 4 quilts per person counts on link up's

Owl Pillow and other goodies

Tanya has been having fun making these cute pillows.  They were made for Christmas presents for our niece and nephews.  Though this one stayed closer to home then the others.  This one went too Julia our baby.  I do not know if she loves it, but I know that I do.

Next week, starting this next Friday we will have our 100th Link a Finish Friday (link up is open for a week) It is my pleasure to announce a special giveaway as part of this link up.  My LAFF sponsor Fat Quarter Shop has given me a fun extra for this next week a giveaway.

It is a Jelly Roll called Chantilly by Lauren + Jessi Jung.  So you have just under a week to make something new (or decide what old thing you have finished) to link up.  Every one will be allowed to link any item made with in the last year to enter this special giveaway (up to 4 items per person).

A Cat and a Creeper

In our home I can not tell if it is the toys (creepers in this case) or the Cat's keep the attention of the kids more then the other.  Jared who received this pillow for Christmas is a fan of Creeper's for those that dont know what a Creeper is it is a monster from a game called Mine Craft it is one my son likes a lot.  He even Dressed up as one for Halloween and mom made him a costume of it.

Here he is just after he opened his present Christmas Morning.

Here is a closeup of it on the couch.  This pillow was not washed yet (mom was afraid he would see it before Christmas) it will get a washing soon enough as Jared seems to get things dirty fast like most boys do.

Tanya for Christmas made many of the neices and nephews pillows for Christmas as the weeks go on I will try to make sure each of them get a posting.

Graduation Day or Crossroads

This post made by Tanya.  I am feeling a bit emotional the last couple of weeks.  I don't know what is harder, turning 40 or having a kid graduate high school all in the space of 1 1/2 weeks.  I found  a pattern, out of the Sweet Celebrations book I won recently, for a pillow  that was for a graduate.  I made a similar pillow for James. I chose to use my machine to embroiderer a year, instead of applique. I probably should have done it lower on fabric, but live and learn. I didn't do the pocket in pillow, he wouldn't use it. A finish that isn't a quilt.  Anyway it will match his lap quilt out of the same fabric.  Here are few rushed pictures we took of him in casual and cap and gown over weekend before he had to go to work.
