Twister Table Runner in Orange

Over the last weekend I sat and made many table runners.  This is the first to get washed and I wanted to share it off.  Tanya and I have been struggling with how to take better pictures.  I am sure none of you have the issues I have, too much clutter in your home and no good place to take a picture.  For these pictures Tanya hung a piece minky on the wall and then put the table runners on this table down in our sewing room.

I think they turned out pretty good, but we have room for improvement. I think Tanya did a fantastic job at taking the pictures.  Even if she thinks there are issues with them I think they turned out fantastic.

I struggle with photography too. My go to rule is when in doubt, do it outside on nice day. :) I've read some good articles on blog photography available online. There are also some great pins on pinterest and I've started collecting them on a board but haven't done much more than skim through them yet. http://pinterest.com/gagirlquilts/photography-101/

Natural light really does make a huge difference. I know that isn't always possible, and I'm still working on it myself, but taking pics outside on an overcast day (which rarely happens in Utah!) or in the shade helps a lot. That and no flash.
Good luck.

What?? No, of course none of have issues with a lack of clear space to take a picture in our homes. Our homes all look like those ones in magazines, don't you know?

Seriously, though, that is a cute tablerunner - I like those twistie blocks. My suggestion, especially with indoor pictures, is to use a program to adjust the light levels - that brings the colours out. I use Zoombrowser, which came with my camera. Of course, photoshop elements does that and even more.
