Elephant Rag Quilts

This year, I have made four elephant rag quilts.  The first two are for sale on our Etsy store

 

The second two have already sold.  

                

 

Yellow and White Cat Rag Quilt

This random yellow and white cat rag quilt is a fun print. We made a similar one for our nephew's daughter.  We tend to like cats at our house, ok, the kids and I do, Richard not as much.  The first cat picture is from years ago; only one of the cats pictured is still alive.  The second photo has cats on the quilt on our bed.  Cats and quilts just go together.  

 

Purple HST Quilt

  This half square triangle quilt is made of mostly purple and gray batiks.  The back is a gray batik and it is bound with a purple swirl fabric. This was added to our Etsy Store.  It was straight line quilted around the triangles.

Mouse and Star Baby Quilt

This is a fun gender-neutral rag quilt that has stars and mice.  It also has some yellow minky and various shades of gray.   

This quilt is for sale on our Etsy Store.  People may question why we make so many rag quilts, but they are one of the best selling items we make.  They also make great gifts.  

Turtle Rag Quilt

We have been trying to use up fabric from our stash.   This is our third  and final rag quilt with the blue and green turtles.  

Rag quilts are so fun and easy to make and they make great baby shower gifts This one is for sale on our Etsy Store 

 

Red Reunion Quilt

This quilt is made from Reunion Fabric by Sweetwater, and yes we still have more in our stash. This is Richard's favorite line ever and we bought a lot of it. 

This quilt uses our Simple Squares pattern and is available on our Etsy Store.

 

Dr Suess Quilt

This Dr. Seuss quilt was made primarily using fabric from our existing inventory; however, additional material for the binding was purchased through Etsy.

This baby quilt was made for a cute couple at church who just had their first baby boy. 

I found at least enough fabric for one more Dr Suess Quilt when going through our fabric bins.  

Playful Dog Quilt

This playful dog quilt was made using leftover fabric from a previous project, along with ombre brown material that matches the backing of our bed quilt. It features paw prints, dog-themed patterns, polka dots, and coordinating solids.    

 

It is available for purchase on our Etsy Store.   It uses our simple squares pattern.  

 

Western Theme Rag Quilt

This Western theme rag quilt is one of several that Tanya has made recently. 

 All the front was fabric from our stash.  We did purchase some Kona Bone right before Joann closed for the back.  It is available for sale on Etsy Store.  

Baby Truck Quilt

This is a gray version of the quilt we posted about most recently.  

It is a construction print quilt that has been added to our Etsy Store

It is unique in the fact that the back of the quilt has pieces of a panel to make it more fun.  

 

Baby Truck Quilt in Blues and Greens

This is one of several similar quilts that we have made.  This one is going to one of Richard's coworkers for their new baby.  It uses our Simple Squares Pattern.  

This quilt has several fun construction prints in blues, whites, greens, and gray.  

Bright Girl Baby Quilt

This quilt is made using animal print fabric alongside a selection of purple, pink, green, and yellow tones. The reverse side features a vibrant pink fabric and is finished with an attractive striped binding. Striped bindings are among our favorite choices for quilt edging.

 

This quilt has been in our UFO pile for a while.  Richard pieced it, I quilted it.  He bound this and several others with request that I blog about them.  That is why, we started to blog again after five years of taking a break from blogging, but not quilting.  This quilt is available for sale on our Etsy Store

 

Puppy Dog Rag Quilt

This rag quilt was made by Tanya from fabrics in our stash.   Apparently someone thought it was cute, because someone purchased it less than a week after it was added to our Etsy store.  

It has some fun dog fabric, gray minky, and various other gray fabrics.  

 

Life Lately

 

Throughout the past year, there have been several developments in our family. Richard underwent knee replacement surgery on both knees, which has alleviated his quilting-related discomfort. Julia, our youngest daughter, is beginning 8th grade soon. Our only granddaughter, Bella, recently turned six.   

Creamsicle Quilt

This orange and cream quilt has sat in a UFO pile for a long time.  It is made of various shades of Fossil Fern Fabrics and batiks.  It was pieced by Richard and quilted by Tanya.   It was recently added to our Etsy page.  

It reminds me of a Creamsicle, not to be confused with our cat by the same name.

The squares are the larger 8 1/2 inch blocks.  

The back is the off white minky.

Dresden Quilt for a Neighbor

This quilt top has been done for a few years.  Tanya basted it about a year ago.




She gave up on me on quilting it and decided to do it herself.



It is only the second quilt she has quilted.



If that isn't enough of a shock, she bound it to.  She has been practicing on binding pot holders.

She even personalized it with the new babies name and birth year.




Hopefully the new mom enjoys it.

Julia Quilts, Well makes a hotpad and has a B-Day!

 Julia has been pestering me to let her make some hot pads for her friends mom.  I finally relented this last week and let her do it.

 Julia is growing up.  Its funny to think 8 years ago she is what caused me to start quilting.  I know in the last 4 years I have almost vanished but my little princess is making me make a return.

Julia did not do this all alone.  I cut out the squares for her and sewed a few of them together and helped thread the machine.  But most of the actually sewing she did.

 I even let her Iron.  I almost got away with it (Tanya did not know that I let her play with the hot iron) but well the burn on her had gave us away so I got caught.

 All in all she did a pretty good job and did not burn the house down and only burnt a small mark into her wrist.  It will heal but the memories of her doing this on her own will last forever.

 Julia picked all the materials out for these.  We are making another few quilts and these were left over squares that she stole for this project.

 She even basted the hot pad on her own and pinned it.

 She also quilted the hot pad.  Don't look too close at the lines as they are not all that strait but all in all it looks good.

 I am proud of her she did a fantastic job.

Here is the hot pads after I did the binding on them.  She tried to do it but was not having great luck so I finished that part for her.

Today is Julia's B-Day she turned 8.  She was really sad that she was not able to have her friends over for a party or go out to dinner like we normally do for Birthdays.  We did get her some lunch that we picked up from Cafe Rio that was really good.

She got a pair of skates and lots of other presents but still was some what bummed out as the world tried to cancel her B-day.  But lucky for her we did it any way.

 I have a 8 month old little grand daughter that we get to baby sit.  And while we were at the store a month ago I had to buy her this cute pink little chair.  She is finally to the point she can sit up in it.

This is my baby, Baby sitting her niece.  They make a good team when we can get them both down for a nap at the same time. With school out because of the virus, she has lots of time to spoil her.

Our little grand baby wants to grow up.  Here she is trying to get into a box she stood up all on her own.  She is just so cute.
