This is the second broken chevron that was requested by a customer. It wasn't what they expected, they picked the fabric and pattern. I was frustrated and didn't get more than one picture, oops. Neither of us could get into the project.
They picked Pearl Bracelet in rainbow colors. The colors appeared real dark for a baby quilt. They decided they didn't want it and then decided they would take after all. I took the liberty of choosing a striped binding, that I thought tied it together and lighten it up a little, they hated it. They claimed it made to the quilt too babyish. Each to their own opinion. I love stripes as bindings, and even have them on the two lap quilt Richard made me.
We now see why people charge a deposit on quilts on etsy when making a custom order. Have you ever made a custom quilt for someone and they backed out? How did you deal with this? We are making a second quilt at cost, eating labor for them to be happy. Not our easiest customer so far.
It is funny we wrote this post months ago and hated the quilt so bad (well the experience with this customer) that I never posted it. It is time. It must be shown.

Car & Denim Rag Quilt
This is a gift for a nephew that didn't get a quilt a couple years ago.
It is made up of 8 1/2 inch blocks of denim and car print fabric. The back is a tie dye blue flannel. This quilt is really heavy.

Wheelchair Rag Quilt
This rag quilt is a gift for Tanya's mom. Yes it looks like a baby size quilt.
We will be posting several Christmas gifts, but only the ones of people that don't have internet or follow our blog. The rest will be posted after Christmas.

Baby Gift Vintage style
This is another gift for a baby at church. The mother is into retro styles. I figured multi-colored charm square quilt paired with 30's prints would be great. The back is a some "vintage" fabric acquired from Richard's mom.

Rainbow 9 Patch
This is a rainbow quilt composed of 36 nine patch squares.
This quilt is made up of 2 1/2 inch squares.
This was a custom quilt that was made for a customer on Etsy. They saw a quilt elsewhere and asked us to make one for them. The binding is the same white fabric as the borders. I would have used a rainbow stripe, but this is what the customer wanted. I see us making another one some time in the future.

Pink Elephant Rag Quilt
This is the girl version of the same rag quilt we did in blue. This has pink and gray elephant and chevron print. The back is a bright pink back.

Blue Elephant Rag Quilt
We have been quilting, just haven't took the time to take pictures or make posts.
This cute rag quilt has chevron print and blue and gray elephant print.
We have a girl version coming soon as well.
Last week we sold our first quilt in the United Kingdom. We have previously only sold in US and Canada. We were pretty close on shipping cost there, however we also sold a table runner and lost money big time on shipping.

Purple Triangle Starbust Quilt
Just after Richard did the Triangle Quilt A Long, he was still in the mood to do triangles. He was experimenting in EQ7 with patterns and came up this one. Purple is one of his favorite colors, so he took some we had on hand and bought some more to make this quilt.
I tried and tried to figure out a color for the back of this quilt. Purple made it too overbearing. I decided on a rosebud Minky, the good stuff, not cheap stuff from chain store. Richard made me clean his machine after, talk about dust/lint bunnies. It looks super cool quilted. I think it really made the quilt.
The binding is a duller purple almost gray stripe, another difficult decision.

Flag Rag Quilt
Richard has a cousin with a kid about Jared's age ie 10 that wanted to make a quilt .
He had the idea of recycling old flag
We decided on a blue flannel for the back.
We added some off white to round out the quilt.
The squares were 5 inch instead of our normal 6.
He helped to sew x's while Richard sewed them together to form the rows.
Picture of the finished quilt.
We got it done all in one Saturday. We washed it, although we sent it home wet. We know what to expect with a rag quilt and didn't want to clog his families washing machine. We went back to the traditional non high-efficiency washing machine about a month ago. Too many problems, with all our rag quilts and kids not checking pockets.

Owl & Dot Rag Quilt
While going through different boxes of fabric for rag quilts, I found the last little bit of owl fabric. It seems to be one of our most popular ones on Etsy. I didn't have enough for just pink and the owl fabric, so I added some fun polka dots.
This rag quilt has three layers of flannel, so the edges are extra fluffy.

Broken Chevron
This is a quilt that is similar to one that was requested for a customer on etsy.
We decided that we would do narrower strips of white the next one we do. I don't know what to refer to this quilt as, so I have just called it Broken Chevron. Any suggestions for a name?
There was a lot of wasted fabric in the making of this quilt, so Richard figured out a way to have a lot less waste. The back is leftovers. It is quilted in dense vertical lines in front, everywhere but the white lines.
I don't know if I like the front or the back better.
This fabric line used in this quilt is Petal Poetry Swirl by Exclusively Quilters.
Look for a similar quilt coming up soon for a repeat customer. This one is available on our Etsy store.

Custom HST Twin Size Quilt from Reunion
This is a custom quilt we did for a customer on Etsy. A funny point about this quilt is the twin size quilt went to the same city, but different customer as the toddler one we already sold on Etsy.
There were not any fat quarter bundles of this fabric left, since this line is 2+years old. We ended up buying quantities of fabric in 1/2 yard and yard increments. Look for more reunion quilts in the future.
Don't miss out on Craftsy's Whale of a Flash Sale! Just 48 hours to enjoy up to 70% off fabric, yarn & kits before they sell out. Click quick to save! Hurry, offer expires Aug 22nd at midnight. Shop Craftsy's Whale of a Flash Sale!
We explained to the customer that it would be near impossible to find large enough quantities of one fabric from this line to the back. They asked for a horizontal and vertical line across the back of triangles. I think it turned out pretty great.
Overall our pictures are getting better, but the larger size is more difficult to photograph. I tried hanging the quilt across the backdrop frame, it started to tip over. I finally took pictures on our bed. Where do you take larger quilt pictures?

Orange, Gray, Yellow and Blue Glimma Rag quilt
Another fun rag quilt. I think this one turned out fantastic. And of course it has my favorite orange in it.
My favorite picture is this last one.

Dr Suess
A few months ago we found on sale some Dr Seuss material. I grabbed a bunch of it and threw together this quilt. One thing I realized after piecing the top was that this quilt is WAY TOO BUSY. I think it might drive a baby crazy looking at it. I know it does me. So what do we do? Yes we make the back too busy too.
I am not saying I don't like the quilt. I just think I well blundered. I lucky have tons of material left over so I can do a better try 2. My next quilt will have solids mixed in with the Dr Seuss prints so that your brain can register what I made.
Have you ever finished a quilt out of material that you love and then pondered the mistakes you made making it? Well that is where I am with this quilt. I love it, but then again I don't.

Turtle Rag Quilt
Today I would like to share a new cute rag quilt from Tanya. This adorable quilt in green (I think of it as Jared's color). The thing I like most about rag quilts is how simple and adorable they are. Out of all of the quilts we make to give away or sell the bulk of them seem to always be rag quilts. We sell our Rag Quilt Pattern on Craftsy. If you would like a free copy of it hop on over to Craftsy and comment on the pattern there or like it, or follow me on Craftsy. Make sure to comment here on the blog or email me so that I can send you the pattern. Speaking of Craftsy they are having a giveaway that I would encourage you to enter.
One lucky winner will get their choice of material and patterns (including backing material) to complete one of the 2 pictured quilts. The choice is yours. Simply follow this link to enter and have a chance to win. Only residents of the U.S. and Canada are eligible to enter. Entries are open until August 27 and they say a second giveaway on the 22nd.
If you want this quilt you can also pop over to Etsy and buy it. Tanya lists these quilts for a killer deal.
