Halloween, Richard and Time

You have probably noticed that we haven't been blogging much other than Link a Finish Fridays.  Quilting has taken a back seat lately.  Richard has still been doing a lot of exercising, he is down a total of 75 lbs.  At church, Richard used to work with Boy Scouts, now he has a job that requires a lot more hours for meetings.  We are Mormons or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  We have a lay clergy, meaning they are all unpaid and volunteer.  Richard is now the 2nd Counselor in our Bishopric.  This means he is busy after work most Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays and in meetings most of the day on Sunday.  Life is a little different around the Healey household, as we are trying to learn to cope with him being so busy, but in a good way.

We are trying to figure out a mix of things to do with our family.  We have a few quilting projects planned for Christmas and plan on making some seasonal items to put in a show.

Speaking of seasonal.  Here are the two youngest in their Halloween costumes and their older brother taking them Trick or Treating.

Ghastly Quilt Top Finished

You are all thinking that its not Halloween yet and I am jumping the gun a little.  Last week while cleaning out the stash pile (yes it turned into a pile rather then a organized mess) We found our Ghastlies, we finished one quilt last year that we totally forgot to blog about that.  It was made for Tanya's Sister and then started making the wonky picture blocs.  The strips of pink, green, and gray were also made last year.  I added the sashings around the blocks and made them wonky rather than square (I wanted them off kilter more then they were already) and then sewed the 5 strips together.  We have enough Ghastlies to make another top and most likely 3-5 wall hangings.  Our plan is to sell the quilts and keep one of the wall hangings.  One thing I find funny about the Ghastlies is no matter how I try to take pictures of them, they look blurry.  I don't know if its just too busy that the camera can't focus, but it looks so much better in person then it does in the picture.

I have of course still been working on the granny squares.  I think I have enough done now to make 2-3 more baby quilt tops.  I can't wait to get all of them done, they are so much fun.

Halloween is on its way!

This week is our week on the Glorious Autumn Block Party and I share the week with Sandi and Faith and many wonderful sponsors.  Please make sure you take the time to visit each of our sites on our perspective days. Did I mention that I am having a giveaway on my day?

Well it must be time for Halloween.  Yesterday Rebecca brought me her vampire pumpkin.  I had to ask her to translate as I did not understand.  The top says Vamp and the things in the middle are Eyes! Like I was suppose to understand it.

Tonight Jared came upstairs wearing this.  Mom (Tanya) has been busy for the first time sewing/modifying  a costume  (she says second, something about gluing a costume together).  This is a first for us modifying instead of buying a costume.  For those that are lost, Jared is going as a creeper for Halloween. Creepers are monsters in a 8 bit graphic game called Minecraft.  Jared is holding a Creeper we won in a give away many months back.

Tanya is not yet finished with the costume, she still needs to sew the 2nd set of legs on, he was just modeling it to see if I could tell what he was.

Julia decided she would get into the Halloween costume thing, can we say Oscar the Grouch? Or dirty laundry.  She is getting to be a busy child, 7 months old today and she thinks she can stand up on her own.  It won't be long until she is walking I think.  She still only commando crawls, but she moves fast now.  Nothing is safe any more, the vacuum is now self propelled.

Isn't she so cute!
