I am in Bliss

My wife had to laugh at me today I got a pink package in the mail.  You would think after her dealing with the fact my favorite color is purple that pink packages would not be a issue.  And better yet inside of the pink package was the wonderful charm pack domestic bliss.  My wife already could tell you which ones I would like  before it even showed up (she goggled it when I first won).

Thanks goes to Vroomans Quilts if you have not been too her site I highly recommend it.   One of the things I find neat on her site is she is keeping track of the Traveling Stash boxes and keeps you up to date on who is currently holding giveaways to win this if you have not been to her site go check it out.

To Hexy or Not To Hexy That is the question

I won some Hexagons from the Leap Day blog hop.  I find these giveaways so much fun.  Each and every one that I have won and those that I have given give me a chance to try something new.  I have not been quilting all that long so every thing is new and exciting to me.  Polka Dot Classic is where I won this most recent Item.  It is a set of 88 1 inch Mylar Hexagons.  My wife started researching this when she found out I won and even then was some what confused.  I was so happy to find that Marta made me one flower as an example.  My daughter Rebecca also loved these and want to give them a try.  I don't think I could make a full size quilt out of these but I love applique and these would be fun to make and applique onto a quilt top.  So look forward to these showing up some time in the future in my work.

It was funny about 5 minutes after I wrote my last post on the Burp Cloth Tanya made she came in and dropped this one on my desk.  I can tell she is getting baby hungry.  She did this one rag style so we had to wash it once before taking the first picture.  The borders around and though the middle are created with one of the many decorative stitches that we have on our sewing machine.  It turned out amazing.  The stitch looks like a diamond it goes out and in and then back out to the next diamond.  She sewed it with a multi colored thread that is changing colors.  Any way congrats to Tanya.  She made me promise not to link this post to any sites I was suppose to promise the same thing on the last one but got busted linking it to Such A Sew in Sew on her monthly finish drawing.  Oops.  Better to ask forgiveness then... oh wait I was told before hand not to link it so um that does not work.  So here is my public apology for it.  Please post and tell her how wonderful they look she thinks they did not turn out wonderful and I am so happy with them.

Love You Tanya your the best and I am proud of every thing you do. And every thing you do for me.

Burrrrp!!!!

It was bound to happen.  I came home from work to find Tanya sewing.  OK she was not actually sewing, when I came home more like crying.  Tanya made us a burp cloth.  She sewed the outside edge flipped it inside out and then was going to put a decorative trim around it.
She set the machine to the decorative stitch hit the peddle and SNAP! She broke a needle.  Not to be set back, she quickly swapped the needle and SNAP!  This is of course where I come in with her crying.  Last night when sewing I put my 1/4 inch foot on.  She not even knowing what that thing is.  She did not know that if she did a stitch that the needle moved back and forth would have to put the normal foot back in.

Needless to say I came to the rescue, such a good husband I am (yes I am sucking up for every ones love) and swapped her foot and helped her sew.
We are now the proud owner of a burp cloth with a pretty little edge around it.
I tried to convince my wife that I could slap one of my cool labels on it and she explained to me that I don't need it thrown up on so no label.
Not to be totally out done I did get some brown granny squares in and some 5 X 5 blocks done.

If you look close though at the top right block on the bottom left corner I messed up the out side edge making one of my lighter tans end up on the out side edge.  Oh well.  I do have 4 more piles of squares to sew up tonight so once I get done posting this off to work I go.

Blog Hop Party and past winnings

I had so much fun with the last giveaway that I have decided I am going to join a up coming blog hop sponsored by Quilting Gallery it will run from March 17-23 and is destined to be a big one.  The interesting thing is that will be close to when the baby is born, I am trying to decide what to give away and how to do it.  For those that have fun at giveaways leave me a message about what you like or don't like about giveaways.  If you have a blog think about joining up.

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

Today I had a prize show up that I won from SewCalGal I won this prize back on January 20th.  The prize I won was a roll of various fabrics from Hoffman Fabrics, they are wonderful and can't wait to use them.

One of the things I liked the most about the fabric in this roll is that they are ones that I don't often pick. My wife likes conservative things and steers me away from some of the more bold things in this grouping.  I am looking forward to finding a good project to put these in.
While I was musing over my win, I have been thinking a lot about how to get sponsors for my blog.  Is their any one out their that has advice on this subject?  I enjoy doing giveaways, but I am some what limited on what I can afford to give away.

One last thing the other day I was going though blogs I follow and found a great recipe.  It is for the most wonderful breakfast treat.  Please go check out my post about this on Becca Cooks my little girls cooking site.http://blog.beccacooks.com/2012/03/bacon-egg-cheese-breakfast-cups.html
