Mama's Little Monsters

Tanya found this cute monster flannel the other day on our little shopping trip and she has been playing around trying to decide how to use them.
She decided on a green flannel tie dye back
And a rainbow of colors to match the monsters.  She wanted a orange but could not find a tie dye in that color.
This quilt turned out adorable.  We ran out of one of the colors so the 2nd quilt we will be making will be similar with a different coordinated color.
We have a young women's auction in a couple weeks and we are going to donate one of the two monster rag quilts  and the pink cupcake that was part of the Julia arrival giveaway.  It was one of the 2 left over quilts.
This quilt is so cute it will be hard to part with.  It will be listed on my http://www.etsy.com/shop/RichardQuilts store for $40 dollars.  I sure hope the young women's auction we can triple that.

Oh speaking of auctions the Autism Charity Quilt I made ended up going for $125 I was so pleased it was one of the highest amounts for single items in the silent auction.

My Little Hands

Since the first time I saw the little hands and foot prints I knew I was going to make a quilt out of them.  The day has come and the quilt is made its one of the cuter boy rag baby quilts that I have made it is the same front and back.  It has little starts and yellow and blue dots and a blue tie-die to go with the foot and hand prints, its just so cute.

I live in Salt Lake City, UT and the HQMS Home Machine Quilting Show is coming to town.  I finally decided  that I plan to go. I took Thursday and Friday next week off work to go.  I have never been to a quilting show and while have no idea what to expect.  I want to take a class or 2 but there are so many I have no clue what to take.

Is any one out there going? Are you taking a class?  What class should I take I know I need to learn more FMQ but don't know what would be too hard or easy.  What should I bring?  Any way if you know how to go or act at one of these things let me know.  The only thing I remember on the web is they have some make and take class things for kids and want to bring my daughter to it.  Any hints or help let me know.

Ducks Running

My newest Baby Quilt is Ducks Running.  It is another Rag quilt but this one is different from all that I have done in the past.  This one instead of putting batting inside I put a 3rd layer of flannel.  The front has blue squares with yellow ducks on it alternating with a light yellow tie-die with the back having the light yellow tie-die on the full thing with blue in the middle giving the neat yellow and blue fray.

Looking at my Peach Tree today it looks like it is going to  be a good year if it does not freeze.  I have 9 fruit tree's in my yard and just cant wait tell they are ready.

Rebecca planted some pea's a few weeks back and they are now on their way up.

Lastly my cat is guarding one of my newest tree's its a baby pear tree planted this year.  Though you can see my dandelions are growing great this year and the kids are a week behind mowing.

My Wife's Pinwheels

My wife Tanya has me making pinwheels.  She wants me to make her a quilt out of her Twirl FQ bundle we bought and she wanted to make sure I could make a pinwheel before I messed hers up so she found this cute pattern on Moda Bake Shop for a baby pinwheel quilt.

While I have finished the top on the baby quilt and here it is in all its glory.  I have started sewing the Twirl Pinwheels together also but will be a few days tell I can show those off.
I am involved with 2 12 1/2 inch block swaps and one of my April blocks showed up and its pretty so had to show it off.
Here are the 2 blocks I made for my May partners.
Sadly I am a tad late and already have my new may swap partners maybe they will forgive me for being late.

Lastly is a picture of Julia.  The quilt she is laying on was a gift from relief society women at church.  Back before I started quilting we were ask for the baby shower if we wanted a Quilt or Dinners made and I chose a quilt (because my wife would not make me one) while 30+ quilts later I don't need some one to make me one any more, but I do appreciate this wonderful quilt that we got.  They normally hand tie the quilts, but we were awed and amazed at this wonderful machine quilted (FMQ) quilt that we got.

But that is not why I added the picture.  While visiting my wife's family last weekend (showing off the baby) we were given the Red Dress that Julia has on.  As you can see she is almost too big to wear it but its one of those things that you just have to get a picture in.  This dress belonged to Tanya, my wife, when she was a baby.  So Julia now can say she is already dressing up in her mothers clothing.  Though she has already worn many of her big sisters clothing this one will always be special.
