Puzzle Quilt

Today we would like to share another Autism Puzzle Quilt.  This is now the 3rd quilt we have made.  The first can be found here.  The 2nd Here.  The first and 2nd quilts were donated as part of Last year's and this year's Autism Gala (fund raiser for my son Jared's school Spectrum Academy a charter school for those on the autistic spectrum here in Utah)

This is also the 2 quilt we made out of our Pieces Of Hope fabric which I gave Tanya for Christmas last year.  We had a fat quarter bundle of the full line and made 2 quilts and have a baby quilt top half done.

This quilt I quilted different then what I have quilted in the past.  Most quilts I have echo quilted or just straight line quilted.  This is still straight line but it is a very tight or more dense quilting, not a lot of space between the quilt lines.  I think it turned out fantastic but I was tired by the time I was done quilting it.

Like the last quilt we bought a back specific for it but it was not quite wide enough (and we knew that when we ordered it) so we got some yellow solid to cover the 2 sides.  It was bound with the striped fabric that was part of this fabric line.

Half Square Triangle Rag Quilt

Today we would like to show off a new rag quilt from Tanya.  She wants to mix up her Rag Quilt Design a little and start doing quilts with more flavor to them.  This quilt has alternating Diamond Patters done with HST.

She kept it simple on the back with all one color.

Here is the full shot of the back.  To me it looks like a Star in the middle with the purple points radiating outwards I think she did a fantastic job.  Let Tanya know what you like, love or even hate about how this quilt turned out.  She plans to make a pieced version also of this quilt so look forward to that another day.

Let us be Gray!

Today in honor of April Fools we are going to look at some of the Foolish things that I quilt.  Last week I was working on gray blocks to go with my orange and gray selection.

And I foolishly went over board and made 29 new gray blocks.  My numbers now are at 44 gray blocks and 24 orange blocks.  Tanya vetoed my idea of making a Orange and Gray quilt for our bed (she still really hates the orange) so it looks like I will only be making a few baby or a lap quilt (for me) out of them.  Which means I have WAY TOO MANY gray blocks.  So to solve the issue Tanya has started to look for color combos she can live with and I will one day actually make a quilt for my bed.  Tell then just laugh at my foolish pile of gray blocks.

Toys for Tots

Today we would like to share some toys for tots that Tanya has made.  Two of them will be given as donations to a cause that contacted us looking for baby toys.  The other 2 will be added to our Etsy Store.  Tanya a few months back bought some crinkly material to sew into the baby toys.  The 2 we are giving away do not have it, because we were not sure what they wanted.

Tanya made 3 Basket Balls and added tags to them they are such cute toys.  These pictures are of both the back and front of each taggie.  If I got the pictures right the should be side by side on front and back.

After making 3 Basketballs she had to give a Ice Cream Cone a try.  I think that they turned out pretty cute what do you guys think?  Have you made taggies before and if so what do you like to make?

At the same time we got the crinkly material Tanya also bought us some Insul Bright and she had to turn one of my completed Orange Blocks (left over from my Orange and Yellow Quilt that is now for sell on our Etsy Store) into a hot pad.  She plans to turn more of my lost blocks into hot pads.  I should explain the lost blocks I have a box full of all the left over blocks on all the quilts I made.  Original I was planning to make a quilt out of it.  Now I guess Tanya plans to make Hot Pads out of them.
