This one Turned Out Much Better and a Winner

We like how this quilt turned out a lot better than the first version we did.

We used a  Dark Cotton Shade Roli Poli by Riley Blake and 2 1/2 inch strips of Kona White.

We followed the suggestion of one of our followers Gene Black and Richard quilted it in a circular pattern.

We used a gray fabric from Shades Line by Riley Blake for the back.

We used the same gray fabric for the binding.

Overall it  turned out pretty cute and will be added to our Etsy shop.

The winner of our giveaway is 119.  She has been emailed.

Ohh happy things in my life is my sister got her custom boot yesterday so she can begin walking again. It has been hard with her wheelchair bound for the last 2 months.

Looking Guilty

This post by Tanya.  Julia likes go climb up a chair and likes to play with Daddy's toys.  Admiring a quilt, then checking out his extension table.

She was putting empty spools of thread on top of machine.  I turned around to finish my project.

Adjusting his tension knob, Rebecca took that picture. I never noticed that.

The back of quilt after said adjustment, by little helper.  At least it was easy to remove. Julia is such a little busy body, into and on top of everything.  Yes, I did remove it for him.

Rag Quilt #5 from Stash

This rag quilt has two purple flannels on frount and three appliqued butterflies.

I used my embroidery machine for butterflies and then appliqued a very raggedy edge butterfly on the quilt.  I think this one turned out super cute.

Every time we think we have it figured out!

Every time we think we have it figured out, life makes another change.  Last week when we went to Lagoon with the kids James our oldest son was quitting his job and going to work with his grandfather and uncle on a construction job making almost twice what he was making at lagoon.  Three days after he started his grandfather decided that he could no longer continue working and had to go back home (they were staying in a motel in a small town near job site). James job was dependent on his grandfather, so his job is now over and is back home. A little sad and more disappointed, jobless and with no money (yes we talked him into this and now feel guilty too).

So today what do I do I register him for school and in 3 weeks he will be starting community collage.  I was hoping all the money we made selling quilts would go to material, now it will be going to pay for his first 2 classes at school.  Oh sad day.  But mom is happy to have her son where she can see him (and so is little sister and brother,  Rebecca is not so happy because she is back to not being the oldest at home, sad day for her too).

On a more happy note my Rag Quilt pattern (well Tanya wrote it but I posted it) sold 3 copies this morning on Craftsy and was 3rd on their trending list.  It is I think only our 3rd pattern to spend some time on that list (though it changes often, not sure what makes it trend)  but that made my morning.  We went shopping today to find a binding for our granny square quilt and in typical fashion we came home with 3 possibilities and that was with the fact we even brought the quilt along.  We just could not decide. (I did finish quilting it and finally picked the binding from the 3, so expect to see it finished in a few days).  Tanya is working on yet another new cute quilt out of her Bungle Jungle all, I can tell you is it is triangles and way different then any thing she or I have tried to do in the past.  So hopefully no more plans will change and things can settle down in the Healey house and let me continue quilting with out distractions.

Twin Size little pink owl's Quilts

This week you get a extra rag quilt post.  In addition to Quilt #4 from the stash you have its big sister.  #4 was finished a couple weeks back and was just waiting its turn when we were commissioned on Etsy to create a Twin Size version of it.  This picture is the quilt laying on my queen size bed, so its a bigger sized twin and will work as a great quilt to hang over the bed.  This quilt like its little sister is already sold.
