Lets Have Peace and Love!

Tanya I think is just trying to show off this month.  She has yet another finish and I while am a little slacking.  This is another Rag Quilt.  At least some of it is fabric that Rebecca picked out and Tanya found some other fabric that matched it.

This quilt has a cute cream/tan colored background.

Here is a close up since my first picture sort of sucked.  I think Tanya did a great job on this quilt.  It is destined to head to Etsy.

Work In Progress Wed #33

Today's post is by Richard and he has succeeded the race this month for quilt finishes to Tanya.  Yes we are in election mood here watching CNN to find out the results.

As such it is only fitting to show off our patriotic quilt top.  This was started by Richard as part of the beginner quilt along and he failed to keep momentum and then finally put the blocks he completed in the "Not used block box" which is half full of 12 1/2 in blocks.  Tanya in her zeal to beat out this month's quilt race pull the blocks out and improvised a few blocks to finish it.   I have to say she did a fantastic job.  Not to let that be the least that she has worked on lately she also gave me this quilt to show off.

This is another rag quilt from Tanya it is not cut or washed yet though.

Not to be shown up too much, I did cut this marvelous stack of 4 inch blocks.

Now to show you who won in our giveaway last week.  For the Glorious Autumn Block Party last week we drew numbers tonight.

Congrats Vivian

Cat Park & Pictures

 Posted by Tanya.

2 Finished Quilts
Dot's and Owls and
Blue and White Rag Quilt

I took the two rag quilts I finished up last week to the park to take some better pictures and to get a few pictures of the younger kids.  The first one is turquoise and white with turquoise rose buds. I did a center layer of flannel on this one, instead of batting.  The second is owls, brown with big dots and ivory minky.  I decided I really don't like doing minky very well in a rag quilt.  It stretches weird. Jared didn't have school today and  I figured after a  few chores we could eat lunch at park and they could play while I got a few pictures of quilts and  them.

The first little while they seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Julia likes to sit and pull grass and hunt for leaves to crumble.  Jared  liked the playground.

He also really likes cats, so I took a few pictures of him with the sculptures. This didn't last very long when I got this from Julia.  I guess  this means it is time to go home.
We will pick a winner for the charm pack Tuesday and email them.  We will post winner on Wednesday.

Back to the Beginning!

Both Tanya and I started working on the beginner quilt along by quilting gallery and sadly we did not follow along as well as we should have.  Tanya was planning to make one top and I was going to make 2 (you know I have to show off).  Well I failed and Tanya is now working to finish my top and she finally finished finished hers (OK she sewed the top and basted it and I quilted it) It is not washed yet, but it is complete and will go to one of Tanya's Sisters for Christmas.

I sent the kids up to take a picture so I could post this before bed and my son though it was funny to take a picture of Rebecca standing on the chair holding the quilt while she was flipping it around and since she protested about the picture, you know I just had to post it.  Something about bad hair?  14 year old girls, like any boys are out there looking at her hair on a quilting blog.

She did manage to get it turned around and hiding the hair.  We also picked the winner of last months Link A Finish Friday with Prizes.

Tanya threw them all in the bowl (she wrote down all of the LAFF entry's) and Jared took care of drawing out the winner.

It's almost more effort then its worth to get a picture of him holding the winning number, he keeps moving it in and out, lol. He is so cute!

The winner's quilt came complete with a cute quilt tester.

The winner is Shanna from Sparrow in Flight  the Quilts name is Once Upon a Pinwheel.  I will email her and let her know she won.  She won a 15$ gift certificate from our sponsor Fat Quarter Shop

P.S. You still have one day left to enter the drawing to win a charm pack go here to enter.
