Purple and White Heart and Elephant Baby Girl Rag Quilt

A couple weeks ago Tanya sewed the blocks of this quilt and then asked me to sew the rows.  It had been so long since I made a rag quilt and I blundered.  You can see above the top of the quilt was meant to be the bottom.

The bottom here was meant to be the top.  Tanya put some hearts on the back(front) to make it look more like it was done on purpose, but well it wasn't, it was my blunder.

It is a good thing that quilts can be used and loved from both sides.  This quilt is amazing and a very appealing quilt.  This quilt is listed for sell on our Etsy store.

I think out of all the pictures, this bottom one or the one above this text are my favorite.  I have rarely done a quilt where the front is so simple, but in its simpleness is elegance.

Modern Baby Boy Patchwork Quilt

This is my newest quilt Reunion Baby Bricks it is made using the Reunion line by Sweetwater a Moda fabric. We love this fabric and have made many quilts from it.  It is made of my newest pattern  Baby Bricks.

This quilt sports a scrappy binding which is a new thing for me as I have never done such before.  I think it turned out pretty fantastic.  I did very tight straight line stitching and it makes the feel and look of this quilt fantastic.  This quilt will go on our Etsy store to replace some of the boy baby quilts we have given away or sold.

Tanya was able to go out into the sun today and take these wonderful pictures.  I like this last one of the quilt, just tossed onto the chair.  We have 4 other quilts in the works (tops completed just need to quilt) all using this same pattern to restock some quilts.  We have a few friends having kids soon, so need to get stocked up on baby quilts.

Brown, Turquoise, and Aqua Heart Rag Quilt

Tanya's newest rag quilt is this beautiful brown, turquoise, and aqua heart rag quilt.  These are colors are some of Tanya's favorites.  I like how Tanya added the brown minky on the top side of this quilt.  This is one of the first times we have done this though I have seen this on other quilts I admire.

I love the look of rag quilts.  They are a simple and fast quilt to put together and its so fun to play with the ruffles on the edges.  My washing machine though does not love them all that much. We tend to get it clogged up from time to time when we wash them, but it is worth it in the end.

The back of this quilt is just hearts.  I love this quilt and we have it listed for sell on our Etsy store.  I find it amazing how well a quilt can look using only 2 fabrics to make.

Working Weekend

It has been a working weekend for me over the last 4 days.  I had a extra long holiday weekend.  Tanya and I both took off a extra day this week, so that we had 4 days of fun.  Along with the 2 pink/gray tops made from our Baby Bricks Pattern I also finished this Reunion version of it.  (well I also made 2 yellow/gray ones too, but forgot to take a picture of them, before Tanya started basting).

I did start quilting this top.

Then quilted more, and more, and more.  It takes quite a while to do this, but I think it looks amazing when done.  We have 3 finished quilts that we have yet to show off, this one being one of them.  The sky today just did not play ball.

In fact all it did is rain and rain.  My brother came over today and helped me fix my sprinklers.  I somehow stupidly broke the front and back manifolds last year, when I  forgot to turn the water off.  My brother teases me when he comes to help.  He says I call him to do my "Honey do's".  Which is true!  LOL, I make a better quilter then sprinkler fixer.

Today I started to quilt, this my baby quilt version of the scrappy orange and gray quilt (yes this is some of what I wanted for the quilt for my bed, but Tanya hates it (well won't allow it on her bed, says it doesn't match her tan and brown decor) so we made a large lap quilt and this baby quilt and still have left over blocks.  I got half  of the quilting done and then realized that while basting the top it got twisted (not the part I had already quilted, but past that). I stopped quilting and sent this back to the baster to fix it straight (oh that's Tanya for any one that does not know).  So while waiting,

I started quilting another of the 5 Baby Bricks Quilts I have now done 2 of them with the tight stitching.  It looks amazing, but it is a long process to do it.  I think Tanya loves it more then the echo now and I will be doing more of it.  One of these days I need to work again on my FMQ.  Now that I am a little more sure of my work it may look better and also gives another way to have the tight look.  Must try it I think.

For any that have not already done so, remember to enter the giveaway for Tanya's B-Day on yesterday's post.
