Blog Hop Party - Giveaway Day

11 Fun Black and White Fat Quarters
Today we are participating in the Blog Hop Party With Give-Aways. Sponsored by Quilting Gallery we participated in the last one and had such fun I had to do it again.

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

We are giving away 11 fun black and white fat quarter prints. These fat quarters are from various designers. All are quilt shop quality fabric.  Half are from our stash and the other half were bought for this giveaway.

Here is a better look to see what they are.

To enter, I want some help setting a new goal for Richard And Tanya quilts.  I am new to quilting (Me speaking of Richard) and Tanya is even newer then me.  I made my first test quilt and finished it on Christmas Eve last year.  My first full size (baby quilt). Yes I have a few issues with making big quilts (I have made over 50+ baby or lap quilts).  But I have made up for the lack of size in the quantity I have made.

This is a collage of just a few (21) of our quilts that we have made this last year.  My goals for this year (2012) was to make 52 Quilts in the 52 weeks of the year.  I am proud to say that I have exceeded that number.  You can see some above and more can be found on my Quilt Finishes Page. Though most of Decembers have not yet been added.

So to enter you have a few options.
---------------------------------------
1) Leave a comment listing a suggestion for a goal for quilting in 2013.
2) (Bonus Entry) If you follow Richard and Tanya Quilts, tell me how you follow.
3) (Bonus Entry) If you like my quilts find your favorite on my complete page and tell me the quilts name.
4) (Bonus Entry) Tell some one about our giveaway. (I don't care how just spread the word.  You can knock on the next door neighbors door if you like.)  You don't need to tell me how you told some one, but you can if you want to make me laugh.

So please leave a separate comment for each entry.  Open to all any where in the world.  We are willing to ship internationally.  Contest closes Sunday Night, December 16th meaning any comments made before Monday when I will draw the winners name.  My son Jared (he is 8) will help come up with some clever way to pick it in a random way.

So 4 possible entries.  Here at Richard and Tanya quilts I answer every email personally.  I enjoy to communicate with my users.  I hope you enjoy that and enjoy following my blog.  You can find below some of what you might find in a blog post here.  Enjoy your day and I hope that after you enter the many giveaways that you will come check us out and see what we are all about.

Jared  is in Christmas stress mode, I do not think it will come fast enough for him.  I have been trying to keep him busy and off the computer.  So today he made me a Flying machine and I told him I would show it off for him so here it is.

I know your saying why is he still talking?  You want to get to entering the drawing.  The last few days this is what Tanya and I have been working on they are 12 day calendars you can read yesterdays post to get the link to the tutorial we are using to make them and learn a little more about them.  We plan to make 40 of them before Christmas and I only have 4 made and basted sounds easy right only 36 to go?

Now go enter the drawing already.

Winner is Sandra I will send her a email!  Congrats

Well, you could go for double or nothing. I think 52 quilts in a year is awesome. I had a goal of doing only two and I did double that.

It's a wonder how you made so many, esp with a new baby in the house! I'm thinking with said baby, you may need to make a few fewer to give yourself some breathing room...how about 32 for the new year with one of them being queen size goal.

I really liked the plus plus and the zigzag now I"m mad quilts...very nice!

ah goal setting...RUMBA...readable, understandable, measureable, behavioral, achieveable...that stuck from nursing school didn't it...my goal to quilt and have fun...i see read it tho it didn't write it down, understand it, measure by how much fun that was, seek out projects i will enjoy..and i can achieve both those goals

Vivian said...

My suggestions for goals for 2013 would be the same suggestions I create for myself. I always try a few new techniques a year, this year was to get better at my applique, try more complicated ones. Another new technique is a different binding technique or to put piping in your binding. If you haven't done so already maybe try raw edge applique on a wall hanging or follow a complicated pattern, (McKenna Ryan or Toni Whitney). Good luck. Vivian

Vivian said...

Again I like the soldier start but since I already said that before I will go with the Halloween quilt as my favorite. Vivian

I've been toying lately with an idea for what would probably be called an art quilt. It might be interesting to challenge yourselves to make an art quilt of some scene - real or imagined. :-)

Congratulations on getting so many quilts done! Good job! I like the two Dragonfly quilts in purples the best. Lovely.

tubakk said...

If I should make 52 quilts in a year, they had to be small as stamps, ha, ha. You're fantastic. May be your goal should be to learn a new technique every month? Thanks for the chance to win, I really need those fabrics!

Angela FlowersMoore said...

At a lost for words, 52 quilts is awesome. Mission accomplished. Thanks for the giveaway.

WOW! Congrats on exceeding your 52 quilt goal. My fave is: Men Quilt too.

Good job! I hope you double that for 2013!

Goals for 2013:
1/ double number of quilts for the year
2/ use a color in every quilt that you normally don't use

Happy Quilting :)

CraftyHourMom said...

over a quilt a week?! That is quite an accomplishment. Maybe a new goal could be 13 different challenges for 2013 - for instance, a king-size, since you say you have mostly done small ones; a challenging pattern you didn't think you would tackle; maybe a charity quilt...

Fun fabric bundle! Over 52 quilts?! thats amazing! Maybe a good goal for 2013 is to tackle a bigger quilt-it really isn't that much different once you get a hang of rolling up one side while you're working on the other. Good luck!

Laurel09 said...

My approach to my quilting goals is to make a list of individual goals for the year. For example, my list for 2013 includes:

Finish triangle quilt for myself, finish star quilt for friend's wedding, complete one paper pieced quilt, try one quilt pattern that requires precise points (HST, flying geese, etc.), try one english paper piecing project (probably will be small!) and try free motion quilting.

This frees me from counting numbers, and lets me focus on skills (and specific projects that I want to finish!), and as a new quilter, I am primarily concerned with building my skills!

Monica said...

A good goal would be to learn and master one new technique every month.

52 quilts in 52 weeks is astounding. How about doing half that many but making them double the size? 26 big quilts would be an awesome goal for the year.

52 quilts in 52 weeks has already blown me out of the water. I've been quilting for 11 years now, and I haven't made that many quilts EVER. Maybe make charity quilts. There are lots of great charity's, and they would all appreciate a quilt or two. See how many charity's you can donate to.

Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting said...

Of course I follow. Lets see, I get emails from you (but, that isn't how I follow) and I follow in my blog reader (whatever way blogger does that, I never pay attention to details like that).

Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting said...

Even though I don't like grey, I LOVE your dresden plate quilt. It makes me smile each time I see a picture of it. If I win these FQ's, I'm thinking I need to make a pinwheel quilt with them, adding some red and white fabrics. PS: Hey Jared, love the Legos. Aren't they fun?!? I still have mine from when I was a kid.

My fave finish is Fire in the Sky!

Jane's Quilting said...

It is great to make small quilts, I do it myself to learn a new pattern or complicated block. Myself, I would not make the goal too high that you cannot have fun with what you are doing. Tell yourself 5 large quilts for the year. Then make small ones in between. My main thought would be "Let go, and just have FUN!"

Jane's Quilting said...

I follow your blog all the time, by e-mail and when I don't receive one, I check it out anyway.

Good going on your Count! I'd like to be able to follow your progress as you learn new techniques and incorporatet them into quilts. I might be intermediate in ssewing, but I still love to follow progress..one can never know everything in the quilt world! I would love those black and white FQ's as I am planning to start a black/white/red quilt for my "tv room" come February!

My challenge for you next year is to create a quilt using the wonderful Lego designs your son creates - take photos of them and try to recreate them with fabric. And it has to be a big enough quilt that it will fit on his bed when he gets big - so not a baby quilt, more like a twin bed size.

Mary Beth said...

Mom's Quilt is my favorite, I love scrappy rainbow themes.

Foolish Feathers said...

I think for a new goal for 2013 you should participate in a BOM that would help you strengthen and expand your skills. It doesn't have to be that exactly, but a "Skill-builder series" would be nice for you guys. I very much admire all that you have accomplished, truly.

But I think you have a special voice to new quilters, so seeing you stretch and grown a little bit more would encourage them I think.

The hardest thing would be for you to have an unfinished project! You could always learn a block, make a quilt and set aside one fo the blocks for the finished BOM quilt at the end of the year!

Barbara O. said...

Humble goals for 2013, as I can't plan my workload at the moment. A few bags, one or two twin size quilts, one or two lap quilts. That's it.

I told my best quilting buddy to stop and I think she will. I really like your son's airplane. Have you seen the legos made into a sewing machine. I'd love to find a pattern to make one of those. I have legos from 30 years ago when my kids were young.

The goal I would suggest is to make a larger quilt, either lap quilt of twin size quilt. Build up to king size gradually.

I love your Plus Plus quilt. I have this one on my bucket list!

One of my goals has been to try and learn a new technique every couple of months, so I have tried paper piecing, FMQ, improv, free piecing and stepping out of my color comfort zone. I am going to try hexagons and hand quilting next.

Make a block a month and by the end of the year you would have a large quilt.

A goal would be to sew a large quilt (King size, I think it´s called), and take time to handquilt it. Just for testing the tecnuique!

Wow! More than 52 quilts in a year??? That's really amazing. Good job!

I guess, since you haven't made many large quilts, I think your goal for 2013 should be to make a large one! :)
